Joost assists his clients with practical and creative advice when market participants or authorized parties want to roll out its innovative financial products, services or business models. Furthermore, he is an experienced litigator with respect to liability issues, debt recovery, securities transactions and investment services.

Joost has particular expertise in all aspects related to credit: from the regulatory landscape, innovative funding structures, specific investor and product documentation to restructuring and litigation. He has extensive experience in the field of consumer loans, SME loans, residential and buy-to-let loans. Besides that, he specializes in asset management and has often been involved in the structuring of investment vehicles, funds and investment mandates.

Joost acts as counsel for a variety of clients such as banks, financial service providers, offerors of (mortgage) credit, investment firms, fintech companies and family offices.

Joost brings with him a strong track record in financial law with over 15 years’ experience as a lawyer, general counsel and executive director. He is the former general counsel and a member of the board of executive directors of Dynamic Credit, an innovative asset manager and direct lender active in Europe, US and Asia. Furthermore, as non-executive director of a Dublin based alternative investment fund he was responsible for Investment Management and Regulatory Compliance. Prior to Dynamic Credit, he worked as a senior lawyer in the Banking and Finance practice of NautaDutilh and as Senior Legal Counsel Finance and Litigation at Volksbank.

Joost holds a Master in Dutch law from the University of Amsterdam and has completed the specialization courses Grotius Financing and Collateral and Grotius Securities law.

Joost is registered in the following principal legal practice area in the Netherlands Bar’s register: Financial Law. Joost is a member of the Association for Financial Law (Vereniging voor Financieel Recht).
