Happy new year! FG Lawyers welcomes Thom Beenen
FG Lawyers is pleased to announce the arrival of yet again a new partner. After welcoming Eduard Fasseur on 1 November 2022, our team was expanded with Thom Beenen as per 1 January 2023. Thom has over 8 years of experience as an attorney (advocaat) and joined FG Lawyers as a partner to further expand the financial law practice.
“We are delighted to welcome Thom to FG Lawyers. His arrival will further strengthen our Financial Regulatory team and allows us to offer our clients an even broader range of knowledge and experience than before. With his entrepreneurial spirit and drive, Thom not only provides razor-sharp advice but also acts as a sparring partner for our clients’ strategic challenges.” Anne Hakvoort
Thom has been practicing financial law on a daily basis since 2015. He advises (foreign) financial institutions, such as banks, investment firms and (managers of) investment institutions, and Fintechs, such as payment institutions, crypto service providers and alternative financing platforms on the (business) impact of Dutch and European financial supervisory and securities law. Thom has a particular interest in Fintechs that bring innovative products and services to the market.
“Since the collapse of Lehman Brothers, the financial sector has become increasingly regulated. In addition, developments in digitalisation, combating financial-economic crime and sustainability create the necessary legal challenges. This makes adequate supervision of financial institutions even more urgent. As an attorney, I enjoy navigating our clients through this complex landscape of financial laws and regulations. (Thom Beenen)”
Thom worked as an attorney at NautaDutilh in the Financial Law and Financial Litigation practice groups from 2015 to 2019. From 2019 to 2023, Thom worked as an attorney at Clifford Chance in the Financial Markets Group with a focus on Fintech and Financial Regulatory.
“I am very excited to join FG Lawyers as a partner where I will focus on providing practical advice to our clients on financial law in a broad sense. I therefore look forward to continuing to build FG Lawyers’ practice and good reputation. (Thom Beenen)”
